In writing this tune, I was inspired by the way God's creation works in the winter season - when trees and other plants seem lifeless and and everything looks bleak. What is fascinating and, dare I say miraculous, is that underneath that dead exterior, there is life burgeoning and resources are being built up beneath the surface in preparation for the rebirth and renewal of Spring. In that same way, we often go through seasons in our lives where things do not seem to be fruitful, where struggles just seem to be insurmountable, but we must always be reminded that God's love and His purpose is flourishing within us - that He is preparing us, during seasons of trial, for ultimate rebirth, renewal, and strength in Him, if we remain faithful and trust Him. My favorite part of this song is the bridge, reminding myself that "I don't have to wait for the harvest to praise Your name." We should praise in the good times and the bad, because the Lord is always faithful and is working everything for the good of those who love Him.
